Circa 19th century, 10.75 inch hand forged blade hand engraved on the left side "D.T. BRETT. ESQR". Small steel guard with stag handle and brass pommel. 16 inch OAL. Complete with the original wooden two piece scabbard which has a spring steel catch which captures the guard to secure. The tip of the scabbard has a piece of wood missing with splits on both edges and a crack on one side. A belt loop is missing on one side, the screw or nail holes visible.,

The blade has welds on both sides at the guard which appears to have been done at a later time to tighten up the blade and guard. Consignor notes state from the Civil War era. Shows age with some pitting and surface rusting. Dry wood handles.,
