JOSEPH GOLCIIER PERCUSSION RIFLE; 41 cal; good bore, good stock, 28.25'' barrel, Joseph Golciier marked on lockplate. Half round/half octagon barrel. Barrel appears to have been shortened to length long ago with a fabricated end cap and front sight. Brass trigger guard and fittings with single trigger. Action works well. Walnut stock shows signs of sanding and refinishing long ago with a repair to a split on the right side of the forend. The left side of the forend has an un-repaired crack and there is an old stress crack on the left side forward of the lockplate screw. The ramrod is a more recent replacement.,   |

LEMAN PERCUSSION HALF STOCK RIFLE; 29 cal; good bore, good stock, 38.25'' barrel, Lock marked 'Leman Lancaster PA'. Full octagon barrel with faded brwoned finish has some minor pitting near the bolster area. The action works fine. Double set triggers. The nipple is a more recent replacement. Curly maple stock is in good condition with signs of some possible light refinishing at some point. There is a small sliver of wood missing on the upper left side of the forend and an old stress crack just forward of the lockplate screw on the left side. Brass fittings with silver inlays on the cheek rest and top wrist of the stock. This rifle has reportedly been fired recently and shoots very well.,   |

PERCUSSION HALF STOCK RIFLE; 45 cal; fair stock, 39 3/8'' barrel, Caliber is approximate. Barrel is not maker marked. Lock is marked H. E. Leman Lancaster Pa. and has some shallow leaf pattern engraving. Bolster area has some mostly medium pitting. Pewter end cap on forend. Other furniture is brass. The hammer will not hold in the cocked position. The lower end of the brass toe plate has broken off. The barrel stock pin seems to have no keeper to hold in place however the pin is there. The stock had broken at the wrist and was repaired buy three long brass plates screwed in to secure the crack along with some pins. The toe of the stock is cracked also and it appears no attempt has been made to repair this. The ramrod is there however we are not sure if it is the original. Barrel is a smooth rust patina. This rifle was purchased from the family of an original owner, a Mr. Carl Henderson of Fulton Co. IL. He was born in 1860. Included is a leather shot flask which is in very good original condition and still has some old shot in it, a brass powder flask with remnants of an old leather thong, a plain antler powder flask retaining its original wood end and a stag plug, and a vintage bone powder measure. All these items reportedly handed down through the family together and intact.,   |
