A.H. FOX A GRADE DOUBLE
This is an example of a gun made by Ansley H. Fox in Philadelphia PA circa 1906 in the low A grade. Marked on top of the right barrel "KRUPP FLUID STEEL MADE BY" and on the left barrel "A.H. FOX GUN CO. PHILA. PA.". Both side of the frame are marked "ANSLEY H. FOX". The watertable is stamped with the serial number and a double stamped patent marking "PAT'D AUG. 1 1905/OCT. 17 1905 JAN.16 1906". The barrels and frame have been reblued, the barrels having areas of pitting which have been finished over. The gun retains the original checkered walnut splinter forearm. The stock is a well made fancy walnut replacement, which has been expertly fitted to the frame, and has a solid rubber buttpad. The gun has matching serial numbers on the forearm, barrel and frame. 2 3/4 inch chambers with Full and Modified chokes. Features a boxlock action, extractors, double triggers, latch release forearm and a full grip stock. The barrels show some thinning finish in the areas of pitting mainly. The original forearm has minor handling marks, and the checkering has possibly been recut. Mechanically fine with tight barrel lockup.
