9mm Luger; 90% blue, 50% straw, very good bore, good grips, 4'' barrel, This variation was part of a first contract of 70 pistols to the Portuguese Navy beginning in 1935. A Mauser 1906 model pistol with grip safety and no stock lug. Original blue finish, strawed small parts and checkered walnut grips. The top of the toggle is stamped with an 8-line Mauser banner logo. Crown/U proofs appear on the bottom of the barrel, left side of the receiver and left side of the breechbolt. The extractor is marked CARREGADA and the safety area on the left side of the toggle housing is marked SEGURANCA. The numbered parts are all matching including both magazines, one of which is stamped with the + sign indicating the extra magazine issued with the pistol. The magazines are the proper bright sheet steel variations with aluminum bottoms stamped with the full serial number without the suffix. The grips are not numbered. Condition: The metal finish show edge and high point holstering wear, with light surface spotting overall. The finish on the grip frame straps has turned mostly patina. The grips show some wear and handling, the checkering remains fairly sharp and well defined. Mechanically fine, the bore has shine and sharp rifling. These pistols saw extensive service into the 1970s and this example is in exceptional overall condition compared to examples normally seen. C&R/FFL, s/n 25xxv, Catalog Number B-01
