7 X 57mm; 50% blue, fair bore, good stock, 23.5'' barrel, Contract manufactured by C.G. Haenel for Paraguay, reportedly for issue to military academies. Built on a Commission 1888 military style action with lightening cuts on the sides of the split receiver bridge, this rifle ahs a dainty appearance and weighs about 7 pounds. Stamped on top of the receiver ring C.G. HAENEL/SUHL/1914 and on the left side of the receiver MOD.09CAL.7mm. The right side of the receiver ring is stamped with three Imperial style crown/gothic letter proofs. Fixed front sight with a short tangent rear sight graduated to 1000 meters. Proper but mis-matched bolt. The original metal finish has mostly turned to a dark rust patina, with scattered minor pitting. Mounted in a dark oil soaked walnut stock, which is stamped on the right side of the butt with a number 42, which appears again on the upper right side of the forend. A bayonet bar is located under the barrel at the tip of the forend and there is provision for a cleaning rod which is missing. The stock has small dings and scratches overall, and a repair at the toe of the butt. Mechanically fine. The bore shows strong rifling with darkness and rust spotting throughout. C&R/FFL, s/n 86xx
