50 CF; Good bore, fair stock, 32.5'' barrel, Manufactured at Springfield Armory using converted Civil War rifle muskets and parts. This example conforms to the M1868 Springfield rifle with a barrel length of 32.5 inches, however those rifles receivers were newly made. The lock is marked U.S./SPRINGFIELD and is dated 1863. The breechblock is marked with an 1866 date over an eagles head. The metal has been cleaned, with pitting overall on the barrel and on the forend tip. The walnut stock has been heavily sanded, leaving no markings and some metal to wood overhang. Missing the cleaning rod and lower sling swivel from the trigger guard. Mechanically fine. The bore has some shine and strong rifling, showing some pitting throughout. Antique.,
