50 CF; Good bore, good stock, 32.75'' barrel, Stamped on top of the breechblock 1870/eaglehead/crossed arrows/U.S. The serial number appears on the left side of the barrel and receiver. The lock is marked with the eagle motif, U.S./SPRINGFIELD and near the back with the date 1863. Fixed front sight, also used for bayonet mounting, with a ladder style rear sight. 1 7/8 inch arch on the bottom of the breechbolt as is proper for a Model 1868. The metal has turned patina with some spotting and scattered light pitting. The walnut stock has been sanded at some point removing any markings, showing some minor dings and scrathes. There is a crack on the left side between the edge of the stock and rear lockplate screw. Complete with the proper style cleaning rod which appears to be reproduction. Mechanically fine. The bore has strong rifling, showing some frost and light pitting throughout. Antique., s/n 455xx
