455 ELEY; 80% blue, very good bore, good grips, 5'' barrel, Manufactured circa 1918 with original blue finish and checkered walnut double diamond grips. Complete with the original lanyard loop magazine which is marked on the bottom of the base CAL.455/ELEY. This particular pistol falls into a serial number range of guns destined for the British Air Service, part of a contract placed May 7, 1918, and delivered May 25, 1919 in the serial number range W106800-W110300. The left side of the slide is marked with the period two-block two-line patent dates and Colt's address flanking the Rampant Colt logo. The right side of the slide is stamped COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 455. The right side of the frame is stamped GOVERNMENT MODEL over the serial number. The left side of the frame is stamped near the slide catch with a broad arrow over crossed flags proof, and with a crown/G2/A inspector mark above the magazine release. The left side of the slide behind the slide serrations is stamped with a crossed flag proof. The right side of the slide, below the serial number, is stamped 5FTS/28. British crown/V view proofs appear on the barrel chamber, right side of the slide and right side of the frame. The metal finish shows edge wear and areas of thin finish, with handling scratches and scattered tiny dings overall. The grip panels show wear and handling as well, the checkering remains well defined. Mechanically fine, the bore has strong rifling showing light frost throughout. C&R/FFL, s/n W1096xx
