MARYLAND 175TH INFANTRY REGIMENT SHAKO
As worn during the later 19th century. One finger of the leather liner is marked with a large logo from the "NEW YORK CLOTHING HOUSE/ARMY & NAVY OUTFITTING/BALTIMORE MD". The hat is constructed of heavy paper material, felt covered exterior black covered trim and a brass visor rim. Felt plume. Thin leather chin strap around the back, brass chained strap around the front. Large brass crest with the 175th Infantry logo DECUS ET PRAESIDIUM, the number 5, over a date of orgnaization 1867. The leather liner is present but missing the sinching string in the top. Over all good, showing edge wear and tear. The plume mount is a bit loose with some damage around the slot in the top for the plume.
