72 Cal; fair bore, fair stock, 39'' barrel, English style poor boys flowler, set in brass mounted walnut. English lock marked "W. BELLAMY/WARRANTED". The brass tie plate on the left side of the stock is stamped "CANTON" arched over "N. FRENCH", followed by either "SM" stamped upside down or "WS", an M stamp marked upside down for use as a W. The barrel is stamped over the left side with a halmarked style proof followed by 1841, this stamped over either W J, or a poorly stamped P M, depending on how the marking is viewed. The top of the stock wrist has an inset silver oval plate. The stock grip has a narrow area of checkering around both sides. The original hickory ramrod with pewter tip is present,, held with two brass thimbles and entry pipe. A narrow piece of grooved walnut is pinned in place under the barrel for the ramrod guide. The metal has turned brown with surface spotting over all and pitting around the touch hole area on the right side of the barrel. The stock is solid, having a chip missing behind the lockplate, a long sliver of wood missing along the right side of the forend and a hairline crack on the right side forward of the lockplate. There is also a 1.5 inch crack on the bottom of the forend running back from the entry pipe. The hammer spring is weak but in working condition. Rusty bore. Antique.,
