6 Gauge; good bore, good stock, 38.25'' barrel, Manufactured circa 1850s. Original browned finish Damascus barrel, octagonal for about 10 inches from the breech, with three platinum bands. Mounted in a walnut stock with silver plate mounts. Checkered wrist. Fixed front bead and U notch rear sights. Original ramrod present. Light scroll and border engraving. Two wedge forend. Engraved on top of the barrel "WILLIAM READ BOSTON" and the same on the lockplate. The action works fine. The barrel retains 70% of the original finish. The stock has a piece of wood missing the right side in front of the bolster plate and a 2 inch crack with a sliver of wood missing on the left side of the forend at the tip.
