16 Gauge; 80% blue, very good bore, good stock, 30 5/16'' barrel, Circa 1890. Original blue finish steel barrels, casehardened frame and locks, mounted in checkered walnut. 2 1/2 inch chambers with Cylinder chokes. Rifle style barrel sights, fixed silver blade front and rear with one standiing and one folding leaf. Smooth top rib marked "F.v. DREYSE SOMMERDA.". The barrels have a semi-premanent chamber insert which is heavy leed rifled for approximately 2 inches in front of the chambers, turning to smoothbore. This appears to be a variation on the Paradox system which allows the capability of using ball or shot in the same gun. The insert has integral small extensions on the side of each barrel for removal. Underlever release. Double forward set triggers with bone trigger guard grip extension. 14 inch Length of Pull. Mechanically fine with tight barrel lockup. Shows use and handling. From the collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Antique, s/n 277xx
