69 Cal; poor bore, fair stock, 34'' barrel, 1st style "Plymouth" rifle with large Eagle motif on the lockplate, dated 1863 vertically at the rear of the lockplate and marked on the side "U.S./WHITNEY-VILLE". Surface rusty barrel and iron stock mounts. Walnut stock has no visible cartouche, does not appear to have been sanded. Bayonet number stamped on top of the barrel tang "1812". Rack number "38" stamped on top of the butt. Missing the ramrod, a wood dowell is jammed into the rod channel. Also missing the rear sight and the upper band retaining spring. Rusty bore. The wood has no major damage or cracks, does show wear and handling. The lock functions fine. Antique,
