8mm Mauser; 60% blue, fair bore, good stock, 23.5'' barrel, K98k manufactured by J.P. Sauer dated 1944. Original blued finish has thinned. Laminated stock and handguard with matching serial numbers in the barrel channels. All numbered parts matching to include the complete bolt assembly, unmarked possibly replaced stamped trigger guard with eagle/135 proof. Stamped upper and lower barrel bands. Top of receiver marked with eagle/37 proof, "ce 44" code and right side of receiver ring marked with a single eagle/37 proof. Left side of barrel is marked with British "tons" export release proofs and British crown/BNP nitro proofs are located on the left receiver ring and bolt knob. The stock is marked on right side with the Army eagle/H. Includes the attached original WW2 issue leather sling, no legible markings. Provenance: From the collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Condition: Over all good. Bore dark with strong rifling. Stock has what appears to be shrapnel damage on the left side at the rear sight where there is also a small gash in the metal, and a gouge further forward on the lower edge of the forend. Missing the cleaning rod. Tiny import mark on left receiver. Mechanically fine. C&R/FFL, s/n 26xxk
