44 BP; fair bore, fair grips, 8'' barrel, Manufactured in 1862, marked on top of the barrel "-ADDRESS COL. SAM COLT NEW YORK U.S.AMERICA.-" and on the left side of the frame "COLT'S/PATENT". Matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, grip frame and wedge. The 12 notch cylinder is mismatched, and retains approximately 50% of the naval battle scene. The walnut grips are are possible old replacements with a screw run through to secure. The metal is a gray patina with some spotting and minor to light pitting, the original markings remian legible. The tip of the ramrod has a braze repair done long ago and the trigger guard is bent at the back. The left grip has a crack along the back edge and both grips have handling dings. The action works and times well and the barrel remains tight., s/n 599xx
